Reflexology (commonly known as foot massage)

I was once recommended a Chinese practitioner of reflexology. I'd been told some wonderful things performed by this practitioner akin to miracles by Jesus (e.g. this practitioner treated somebody with a stiff lower quarter of the face, also people with post-surgery problems with their legs) and so went out of curiosity even though I wasn't really suffering from any illness in the Western sense of the word. The Chinese often use herbs in their soups and drink herbal teas to adjust the body, to eliminate ailments not diagnosed as such in Western medicine. Afterall, it's another civilisation, another world.

So I went to see him, took off my shoes and socks and sat on the patient's chair. He said I didn't have a glowing healthy colour on my face and so attempted to restore it. My period had just finished half a week before and wasn't supposed to come for another 2.5 weeks. I went to see him for 3 consecutive days. Then very surprisingly and very prematurely my period came again. I was scared to death and started to search the internet but could only find that premature menstruation can be a sign of menopause and in the confusion I half thought I was doomed even though I shouldn't have to think about menopause for some time. I suspected it was the sessions of reflexology afterall what he did was apply pressure on points on the feet to accelerate circulation to bring colour to my face. I got the proof that that was the cause only after months of observation. My period has since been regular again.

Conclusion: 1. reflexology works, is very powerful, much more than a foot massage for comfort and should be performed by somebody with at least a decade of experience (this practitioner, in his 60's, had lots of experience but still overdid it). 2. pregnant women should be extremely careful and run the risk of losing the foetus (but I've also read that you can do 'the opposite' and reflexology can help women who are prone to miscarriages)
